Tailor a Resume to a Specific Role

A truthful, concise resume that foregrounds experience and results relevant to one target role.

The process

Work it in this order.

  1. Save the job description and extract its recurring responsibilities, required qualifications, and role-specific language.
  2. Separate essential criteria from preferred criteria and rank them by relevance to the employer’s stated needs.
  3. Inventory the user’s verified experience, projects, skills, education, and outcomes that map to those criteria.
  4. Select the strongest evidence and rewrite bullets with a clear action, context, and result, quantifying only when the user can substantiate the number.
  5. Reorder sections and bullets so the most relevant evidence appears early while preserving readable, conventional formatting.
  6. Check that keywords occur naturally and that no claim exceeds the user’s actual responsibilities or proficiency.
  7. Proofread for consistency, test the exported file, and have the user approve the final version before submission.

Bring this

Inputs the cat will ask for.

  • target job description
  • current resume
  • verified accomplishments and skills
  • preferred page length or format

Router + one playbook

Route first. Choose one.

Cat Paw loads one playbook per task rather than merging several. Start with this router; the remaining paths are workflow-specific candidates it can inspect.

  • Router: product-pack
  • skills/product/pm-toolkit/review-resume/SKILL.md

Guardrails

The boundaries travel with the prompt.

  • Never invent employers, dates, credentials, responsibilities, metrics, or skill proficiency.
  • Do not optimize around protected characteristics or encourage concealment of information the user chooses to include.
  • The user must review every factual claim and submit the application themselves.

Done means

A checkable finish.

A role-specific resume is exported, every claim is traceable to user-provided evidence, and the user has approved it for submission.
