Prepare a Developer-Ready Design Handoff

An implementation-ready design package with clear behavior, reusable assets, accessibility requirements, and a shared resolution path for ambiguities.

The process

Work it in this order.

  1. Confirm the approved user flows, scope, responsive states, component inventory, content, and acceptance criteria with product and engineering.
  2. Clean and structure design files with named frames, components, variants, tokens, layers, and status markers that distinguish final from exploratory work.
  3. Specify layout behavior, breakpoints, spacing, typography, color tokens, interaction states, loading, empty, error, success, and permission states.
  4. Annotate accessibility requirements including semantic intent, reading and focus order, keyboard behavior, labels, announcements, contrast, and reduced motion.
  5. Provide optimized assets, content sources, prototypes, relevant design-system links, and known technical constraints; avoid redrawing system components unnecessarily.
  6. Walk through the handoff with engineers, capture questions and decisions in one record, support implementation checks, and compare the built result against acceptance criteria.

Bring this

Inputs the cat will ask for.

  • Approved design file and user flows
  • Design-system or token source
  • Technical constraints and target platforms
  • Engineering owner and acceptance criteria

Router + one playbook

Route first. Choose one.

Cat Paw loads one playbook per task rather than merging several. Start with this router; the remaining paths are workflow-specific candidates it can inspect.

  • Router: design-pack
  • skills/design/ui-skills/create-design-md/SKILL.md
  • skills/design/ui-skills/baseline-ui/SKILL.md

Guardrails

The boundaries travel with the prompt.

  • Do not expose exploratory frames as approved implementation targets.
  • Use tokens and source assets rather than requiring developers to sample values from pixels.
  • Record decisions in the shared artifact so verbal clarifications are not lost.

Done means

A checkable finish.

Engineering can identify every required state, asset, token, behavior, and accessibility expectation; open questions have owners; and the implemented build is reviewed against agreed acceptance criteria.

Behind the number

Two harnesses. One line.

Same number, same $100 credit. Pick the harness that answers when you text.

Hermes

Nous Research's terminal-native agent. It runs on your machine, keeps memory between sessions, and opens one playbook per task.

OpenClaw

The open-source assistant that runs on your own computer and answers in the channels you already use. One playbook per task.
