Remediate and Check an Accessible Document

A document with structural accessibility fixes, test evidence, and clearly documented residual issues for specialist review.

The process

Work it in this order.

  1. Identify the source format, intended audience, publication channel, accessibility standard, and authoritative checklist.
  2. Work from the editable source when available and preserve an untouched original and revision history.
  3. Apply semantic headings, meaningful reading order, descriptive links, alternative text, table headers, lists, language, document title, and sufficient visual cues.
  4. Remove reliance on color or position alone and simplify or redesign complex tables, forms, charts, and scanned content where needed.
  5. Run built-in accessibility checkers and format-specific tests, then manually inspect reading order, keyboard use, zoom or reflow, and text alternatives.
  6. Correct defects and retest both the source and exported PDF or final format.
  7. Publish a test record listing checklist version, tools, manual checks, exceptions, and items requiring an accessibility specialist.

Bring this

Inputs the cat will ask for.

  • Source document and editable original
  • Target format and publication channel
  • Required accessibility standard or checklist
  • Approved wording for meaningful images or complex content

Router + one playbook

Route first. Choose one.

Cat Paw loads one playbook per task rather than merging several. Start with this router; the remaining paths are workflow-specific candidates it can inspect.

  • Router: documents
  • skills/design/ui-skills/fixing-accessibility/SKILL.md
  • skills/product/pm-toolkit/grammar-check/SKILL.md

Guardrails

The boundaries travel with the prompt.

  • Do not claim conformance from an automated checker alone.
  • Do not invent alternative text for content whose purpose is unclear; ask the content owner.
  • Escalate complex forms, math, charts, multimedia, or tagged-PDF defects to an accessibility specialist.

Done means

A checkable finish.

Automated and manual checks are recorded, corrected files pass the approved checklist to the documented extent, and every unresolved exception has an owner.

Behind the number

Two harnesses. One line.

Same number, same $100 credit. Pick the harness that answers when you text.

Hermes

Nous Research's terminal-native agent. It runs on your machine, keeps memory between sessions, and opens one playbook per task.

OpenClaw

The open-source assistant that runs on your own computer and answers in the channels you already use. One playbook per task.
