Build a 30-Day Cross-Source Signal Brief

A 30-day, timestamped brief that triangulates a topic across independent public sources, separates raw signals from interpretation, and states what changed and what remains unknown.

The process

Work it in this order.

  1. Define the question, audience, geography, exact 30-day window, source inclusion rules, terms, and the baseline or comparison period.
  2. Select independent source types such as official notices, primary documents, reputable reporting, research, public community posts, and measured search data.
  3. Collect dated items with retrieval time, URL, source type, and access status, then deduplicate syndication without treating repetition as corroboration.
  4. Code each signal by topic, direction, novelty, confidence, audience, and source independence, preserving raw excerpts and separating company claims from observed facts.
  5. Compare signals across source types, check contradictions and selection effects, and state explicitly when no reliable baseline exists.
  6. Write a concise brief with verified changes, interpretation, confidence, counterevidence, blind spots, and questions for the next collection window.
  7. Return the source log, evidence, unresolved risks, and any outreach or publication action that still requires explicit approval.

Bring this

Inputs the cat will ask for.

  • research question and audience
  • exact 30-day window and baseline
  • approved source and query boundaries
  • desired output format and decision owner

Router + one playbook

Route first. Choose one.

Cat Paw loads one playbook per task rather than merging several. Start with this router; the remaining paths are workflow-specific candidates it can inspect.

Guardrails

The boundaries travel with the prompt.

  • Verify the actual tools, accounts, permissions, and workspace before starting; never claim an unavailable tool, account, source, or capability.
  • Use Latch/target-workspace for private code, artifacts, live probes, or non-public data; if that access is unavailable, stop at the boundary and report the blocker rather than substituting a guess.
  • Pause for explicit approval before consequential external actions; return evidence and unresolved risks, assumptions, and any action still awaiting approval.

Done means

A checkable finish.

A dated 30-day cross-source brief links every material signal to its source, distinguishes corroboration from repetition and claims from facts, and reports confidence and unresolved risks.

Sources establish the workflow pattern. Reddit and community posts, where present, are treated as practitioner anecdotes rather than universal facts.

Behind the number

Two harnesses. One line.

Same number, same $100 credit. Pick the harness that answers when you text.

Hermes

Nous Research's terminal-native agent. It runs on your machine, keeps memory between sessions, and opens one playbook per task.

OpenClaw

The open-source assistant that runs on your own computer and answers in the channels you already use. One playbook per task.
