Recruiting
Run a Structured Role Kickoff and Build the Scorecard
A hiring team aligned on the role's outcomes, evidence criteria, interview plan, and candidate proposition before sourcing starts.
The process
Work it in this order.
- Bring together the recruiter, hiring manager, and key interviewers before opening or actively sourcing the role.
- Define the role's purpose and a small set of concrete outcomes expected after hire.
- Translate outcomes into job-related competencies and observable evidence, distinguishing must-haves from trainable preferences.
- Write scorecard attributes with shared definitions and anchored evidence rather than vague labels such as culture fit.
- Assign each attribute to one or more structured interview stages with consistent core questions.
- Review the job description and candidate proposition for accuracy, accessibility, and unnecessary barriers.
- Approve the scorecard, interview plan, owners, and change-control process before evaluating candidates.
Bring this
Inputs the cat will ask for.
- Role purpose and business need
- Hiring manager and interview panel
- Expected role outcomes
- Company hiring and compensation constraints
Router + one playbook
Route first. Choose one.
Cat Paw loads one playbook per task rather than merging several. Start with this router; the remaining paths are workflow-specific candidates it can inspect.
- Router:
skill-packs skills/engineering/mattpocock/to-questionnaire/SKILL.mdskills/product/pm-execution/stakeholder-map/SKILL.md
Guardrails
The boundaries travel with the prompt.
- Use only job-related criteria and remove protected or proxy criteria.
- Do not use undefined culture fit as a scorecard category.
- Record changes to criteria after candidates enter the process and assess fairness implications.
- Ensure stated requirements and compensation comply with applicable policy and law.
Done means
A checkable finish.
The hiring manager and recruiter approve a job-related scorecard, structured interview plan, candidate proposition, and named interview owners before the first evaluation.
