Review and Recertify Privileged Access
Excessive, orphaned, stale, or unjustified privileged access is removed and remaining access is owner-certified.
The process
Work it in this order.
- Define the review scope, privileged roles, systems, review period, authoritative identity sources, approvers, and evidence requirements.
- Export users, groups, service accounts, role assignments, nested memberships, last activity, authentication strength, and account status from authorized systems.
- Reconcile assignments with HR or contractor status, system ownership, job role, approved requests, segregation-of-duties rules, and emergency-access procedures.
- Flag orphaned, dormant, shared, duplicate, standing, externally assigned, or weakly authenticated privileges and validate findings with owners.
- Have accountable managers and system owners certify, reduce, time-bound, or revoke each exception through the approved change process.
- Verify changes directly in the source systems, retain reviewer decisions and timestamps, and escalate overdue certifications.
- Report coverage and exceptions, then schedule the next review and automate recurring evidence collection where safe.
Bring this
Inputs the cat will ask for.
- Systems and privileged-role scope
- Identity and access exports or read-only API access
- Authoritative personnel roster
- Approval and segregation-of-duties policy
Router + one playbook
Route first. Choose one.
Cat Paw loads one playbook per task rather than merging several. Start with this router; the remaining paths are workflow-specific candidates it can inspect.

Guardrails
The boundaries travel with the prompt.
- Use read-only collection first and obtain change approval before revocation.
- Protect identity and employment data and share review files only with authorized reviewers.
- Preserve emergency access and service continuity through tested break-glass and rollback procedures.
Done means
A checkable finish.
Every in-scope privileged assignment is certified or removed, all exceptions have accountable approval and expiry, and changes are verified in each source system.
