Build a Household Emergency Communication Plan

Household members know how to reconnect, where to meet, and which verified information sources to use during an emergency.

The process

Work it in this order.

  1. Identify locally relevant hazards using official emergency-management information and note household accessibility, medical, language, pet, and transportation needs.
  2. Choose an in-neighborhood meeting place, an out-of-neighborhood meeting place, and evacuation destinations appropriate to local guidance.
  3. Select an out-of-area contact and record essential household, school, workplace, caregiver, utility, and emergency numbers.
  4. Agree on communication methods, including text-first options and what to do if phones or networks are unavailable.
  5. Create wallet-sized and digital copies, store them securely, and ensure each household member can access the appropriate information.
  6. Review roles for children, older adults, disabled people, pets, medications, and essential equipment without publishing sensitive details.
  7. Practice the contact and meeting procedure, correct gaps, and schedule periodic and post-move reviews.

Bring this

Inputs the cat will ask for.

  • household members and support needs
  • home, school, and workplace locations
  • trusted contacts
  • local hazard and evacuation information

Router + one playbook

Route first. Choose one.

Cat Paw loads one playbook per task rather than merging several. Start with this router; the remaining paths are workflow-specific candidates it can inspect.

  • Router: documents
  • skills/engineering/mattpocock/to-questionnaire/SKILL.md
  • skills/content/content-creator/SKILL.md

Guardrails

The boundaries travel with the prompt.

  • Use current instructions from local authorities during an actual emergency; the stored plan does not override evacuation or shelter orders.
  • Minimize and secure medical, identity, address, and children’s information; do not publish the plan publicly.
  • Do not guess evacuation routes or shelter availability—verify them with official local sources.
  • Call the appropriate emergency service for immediate danger.

Done means

A checkable finish.

Every household member has or can access the plan, meeting places and an out-of-area contact are confirmed, special needs are addressed, and one practice check is completed.

Two harnesses. One line.

Same number, same $100 credit. Pick the harness that answers when you text.

Hermes

Nous Research's terminal-native agent. It runs on your machine, keeps memory between sessions, and opens one playbook per task.

OpenClaw

The open-source assistant that runs on your own computer and answers in the channels you already use. One playbook per task.
