Build a Business Domain Knowledge Map

A domain map that links user language, business rules, entities, decisions, owners, and code or data locations while separating confirmed rules from hypotheses.

The process

Work it in this order.

  1. Define the domain boundary, actors, decisions, lifecycle, glossary scope, and the product or operational question the map must support.
  2. Collect authoritative policies, product decisions, support evidence, domain-owner input, and authorized data definitions, recording dates and access limits.
  3. Extract entities, states, invariants, rules, exceptions, terminology conflicts, and handoffs, separating a stated policy from an observed behavior.
  4. Link each confirmed rule to its owner, source, code or data location, tests, and change process, and label hypotheses and unresolved conflicts.
  5. Map value streams, customer or operator journeys, and decision points across the domain to show where ownership or policy changes hands.
  6. Validate the map with qualified domain owners, record disagreements and missing evidence, and define a review trigger for rule or terminology changes.
  7. Publish the versioned map with citations, confidence, open questions, evidence, and unresolved risks, without presenting an inferred rule as policy.

Bring this

Inputs the cat will ask for.

  • domain boundary and business outcome
  • authoritative rules and decisions
  • actors, entities, and lifecycle
  • domain owners and review cadence

Router + one playbook

Route first. Choose one.

Cat Paw loads one playbook per task rather than merging several. Start with this router; the remaining paths are workflow-specific candidates it can inspect.

  • Router: codebase-knowledge-pack
  • skills/codebase-knowledge-pack/business-domain-knowledge-map/SKILL.md

Guardrails

The boundaries travel with the prompt.

  • Verify the actual tools, accounts, permissions, and workspace before starting; never claim an unavailable tool, account, source, or capability.
  • Use Latch/target-workspace for private code, artifacts, live probes, or non-public data; if that access is unavailable, stop at the boundary and report the blocker rather than substituting a guess.
  • Pause for explicit approval before consequential external actions; return evidence and unresolved risks, assumptions, and any action still awaiting approval.

Done means

A checkable finish.

A cited business-domain map connects language, rules, entities, decisions, owners, and implementation locations while labeling hypotheses, disagreements, evidence, and unresolved risks.

AI acts. You decide.

A human brake for AI.

Latch shows every command, click, and file change before it happens — so you can say yes, no, or not yet.

Behind the number

Two harnesses. One line.

Same number, same $100 credit. Pick the harness that answers when you text.

Hermes

Nous Research's terminal-native agent. It runs on your machine, keeps memory between sessions, and opens one playbook per task.

OpenClaw

The open-source assistant that runs on your own computer and answers in the channels you already use. One playbook per task.
